NSW Dam Cell Maintenance Dredging
November, 2016
The Problem:
The primary groundwater pond at this mine required regular maintenance dredging to avoid overflowing. To ensure maneuverability within the pond, a small-footprint dredge was needed.
What We Did:
Approximately 2,400 m³ of sludge from the dam cell was removed utilising the FLUMP auger suction dredge. The materials were dewatered using Envitube® geotextile containers and subsequently left onsite for further consolidation.
The Results:
The dam cell was returned to its functional state within the proposed timeframe. The dredged material was left in the Envitubes® for a further 6 months to consolidate and continue dewatering before being transferred off site.
